ETHAN P. FLYNN FATHER OF NINE

We were alerted to the news of the exceptional Ethan P. Flynn's new music through a series of striking video clips of a building burning to the ground (which is not a bad way to get someone's attention if you think about it). Inciting haste on our part to find out more, we were thrilled to uncover his latest single 'Father of Nine', which lands alongside the announcement of a new EP. Universal Deluge is set to be released on the 11th of March via Young, and if 'Father of Nine' is anything to go by, it's sure to be spectacular. Expanding on the dark, off-kilter pop sound we became accustomed to on 2020's B-sides and Rarities: Volume 1, 'Father of Nine' sounds like a decidedly more sombre MGMT, with visceral lyricism and a distinctive vocal performance from a person with the potential to be seminal. Accompanied by an arresting video, directed by Ethan+Tom, which features the aforementioned burning building and some truly stunning landscapes, we highly recommend you check it out. -Holly Mullineaux
